A note to students & parents...

Picture
Hello from your online art studio! I look forward to seeing you in our school studio soon, but while you're away from the building, I'm keeping busy collecting a lot of ways for you to explore your creativity from home, including some art lessons and surprises from one of our favorite bands in the art room, Ok Go!

There's a lot of creating you can do at home and it's a guaranteed way to bust boredom! Some of the activities I'll be posting include creating story scenery, making books, and even creating stop-motion movies! The links all over the website will take you to fun video tutorials and awesome apps & games that your parents can help you download to take your creativity to the next level.

Just because you're hanging out at home doesn't mean you can't explore the world using Google Earth. Check out the link to Google's Arts and Culture page to take a virtual walk through museums around the world, and even view famous artworks on your own wall using your phone or ipad!

Have fun getting artsy at home!  I'll see you in the art studio soon!

Sincerely,

Ms. Davidson

Please reach out if I can support you or answer any questions...I'm available instantly via my school email M-F  9:30am-10:30am, and will respond to your emails outside of those hours as soon as possible throughout the break

Lesson Plans:
  1. Springville Museum of Art: Springville has been hosting Evening 4 Educators and compiling lesson plans for years.  These are tailored to our Utah core standards. There are a lot of great ideas here that could be adapted.
  2. Utah Museum of Fine Art:  UMFA has a wide range of lesson plans available, which include handouts and other resources.
  3. Metropolitan Museum of Art Lesson Plans:  This website has around 30 lesson plans based around themes or specific works of art.  Each lesson plan has goals, objectives, connections to the core, activities, and references to specific works of art.
  4. TEDEd Visual Arts Lessons Page:  TedEd can help you build lessons around videos.  If you go to this page, there are tons of fabulous videos, not just ted talks but from all over, that you could use to highlight different artists and art styles.
  5. Nasco:  Nasco has developed lesson plans for all levels. Most of these lesson plans are intended to be taught in the classroom, but they could possibly be easily adapted to fit online needs.
  6. BYU BTSALP: Integrated Visual Art lessons geared towards Elementary grades.  The lessons can be downloaded and shared easily. They have standards listed for both Visual Art and the Core subject being integrated.  They have easy-to-follow directions with images that could be implemented by a parent.
  7. Beverley Taylor Sorenson Arts Learning Program: Integrated Visual Art lesson plans geared towards Elementary grades.
  8. Advancing ARTS Leadership: Visual Art vocabulary, basic drawing skills, and lesson plans for Elementary Visual Art.

YOUR STORY MATTERS...
